Conference was held in commemorating of the 100'th Anniversary of professor Vsevolod Zenkovich. Conference main organisers – the "Sea Coast" Working Group of the RAS Council on the World Ocean and Russian State Hydrometeorological University (RSHU).

Russia and Argentina signed cooperation documents
April 14, 2010 in Buenos Aires within the official visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Argentina was signed 12 agreements, of which the President was pleased to say: "These are concrete cooperation projects”.
In the presence of two leaders JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA represented by its General Director A.G. Alexeev, has signed the agreement for cooperation in the field of geological exploration of deposits of hydrocarbons and solid minerals with the Argentina's Ministry of Federal Planning, Government Investments and Services.

Seminar "Business opportunities in the mining industry of Argentina"
In The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation jointly with JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA and the Russian - Argentinean Business Council was held “Seminar on Business Opportunities in the mining industry of Argentina”.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the local business community, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, as well as the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of Argentina in Russia - Elena Mikusinski.
For the presentation of mining potential of Argentina at the seminar from Buenos Aires came a representative delegation headed by the Head of Mining and Geological Survey of Argentina, Jorge Mayoral.
The speakers included the President of the Business Council Russia - Argentina Dmitry Titov and Deputy General Director of JSC "VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA" Gennady Sidorin.
Following the seminar, which caused an increased interest in Russian business circles, a Protocol was signed.

Meeting between Director of International Cooperation Department, Chamber of Commerce in Russia, Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee on Economic Cooperation with Africa (Sub-Saharan Africa), Sergei Vasiliev with a delegation of Namibian entrepreneurs headed by Vice-President of Namibian Chamber of Commerce, CEO of Paragon Investment Holdings Desmond Amunyela. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Russian companies that are either already working in Namibia, or are taking steps to enter the Namibian market: JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA, "Sintez Group", CJSC "Company INEKOTECH", OJSC “Zarubezhgeologiya", JSC "Severstal - Resource", OJSC "Zarubezhvodstroy”, Uranium holding “ARMZ”. All the companies presented their activities , shared their experience in cooperation with Namibia and other African countries. Were discussed the most promising spheres of economic activities for the Russian-Namibian trade and economic cooperation with the rich experience of Russia in the creation of technology and development of these sectors. The parties expressed satisfaction with the conversation and agreed to continue dialogue with the aim of establishing and developing mutually beneficial business cooperation.

Constituent Session of Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia.
The RF CCI held the Constituent Session of the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia.
In his introductory speech, RF CCI vice-president Georgi Petrov stressed that Indonesia is a promising Russia’s trade and economic partner in South-East Asia, one of the most dynamically developing world economies. Activities of the world business in Indonesia are evidence of the growth of trust in its future despite the current global financial and economic crisis.
According to Georgi Petrov, a number of Russian companies have of late expressed their interest in establishing the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia.
Our Indonesian partners exhibit their sheer interest in cooperation. Last August they set up a national Business Council for cooperation with Russia. This, no doubt it is expedient to establish the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia.
In his presentation Senior Councillor at the RF Foreign Relations Department with the Pacific Rim countries Valentin Dikushin said that the Russian-Indonesian relations were on the growth. An especial aspect of this is the development of trade and economic cooperation which has not lost its dynamics even in the circumstances of the global financial and economic crisis. Ministry Valentin Dikushin expressed his hope that the incorporation of the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia would further increase trade and economic links between the two countries.

December 8, 2009. In the Chamber of Commerce of Russia held a roundtable on the visit of the delegation of Russian business community in Tanzania, which was organized under the auspices of the RF CCI. The event was attended by: Head of Delegation, Director of International Cooperation Department of the RF CCI, Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee on Economic Cooperation with Africa (sub-Saharan Africa), Sergei Vasiliev, Tanzanian Ambassador to Russia Jackie Mgvabi Mwamba, members of Russia's delegation, and the Steering Committee, representatives of the media . Visit of delegation of Russian businessmen was held with the organizational support OOO "Ekspoteh-Tour" and the Moscow agencies support exports and investments and support from the Embassy of Russia in Tanzania and the Tanzanian Embassy in Russia. The delegation consisted of the following local companies: JSC "VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA", JSC "SPC GEONEFTEGAZ", OJSC "Concern Morinformsistema-Agat", JSC "Kaluga Remputmash", JSC "TMK", OJSC "Chetra-Industrial Machinery". Representatives of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA took part in the 4th International Conference «Earth from Space - the Most Effective Solutions» organized by R&D Center ScanEx.
At the conference were presented in details the results of 20 years of fruitful activity of ScanEx on domestic and international market of remote sensing (RS). First of all - the creation of regional and departmental reception centers, remote sensing-based stations UniScan 24/36. Due to this, as well as the development of the whole «line» of application software ScanNet, was created Geo portal «Kosmosnimki» and overall service technology remote sensing data of different customers (from schools to government offices and state institutions).
During the conference with the leadership of ScanEx were held preliminary talks on the implementation of elements of this technology in the practice of some international projects of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA.

In Santiago (Chile) was held the 24th International Cartographic Conference, organized by the International Cartographic Association.
The conference featured more than 380 reports on the main scientific sessions (31 subjects of mapping studies) and about 100 poster presentations.
The main interest at the conference was given to the multidimensional use of remote sensing data to create just as topography, so various thematic maps. In particular, the intensive development of large-scale natural-resource mapping (up to 1:10 000 scale) using high-resolution satellite imagery (over 1 m in the optical and in the Radar ranges) is advancing. Representative of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA took part in the discussion of reports on these topics at major scientific session and final discussion.
In general, the conference showed that the near future of digital cartography is the creation of 3D maps in high details in all areas of environmental management.
7-10 November, 2009
Deputy General Director of JSC "VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA" G. N. Sidorin on the Russian delegation paid a working visit in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, to participate in the Russian-Tanzanian business forum, held from 7 to 10 November 2009.
The purpose of the trip to the United Republic of Tanzania was to establish contacts between the profile enterprises to explore the possibilities of development of the cooperation between Russian and Tanzanian industrial and economic organizations. During the stay in Tanzania, Russian delegation held presentations of the enterprises for the management of the public economic industrial structures and the business community of the Republic of Tanzania. Honored Guest of the Forum - Minister of Industry and Trade of Tanzania Dr. M. Nagu, representatives of the Tanzanian government agencies and private companies were interested in the presentations of Russian business.
In the organization of the event office of ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO in Tanzania took an active part, was widely covered by local media.

In Buenos Aires was held the 8th meeting of the Argentine-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, which was attended by A.G. Alekseev, General Director of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA.
The parties noted that during the period between meetings of the Commission held a series of major negotiations and meetings during which were discussed issues of cooperation between our two countries in various fields, including in the field of geology and subsoil use.
During the meeting of the Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation the Parties have agreed to assist Russia and Argentine companies and organizations to find opportunities for cooperation in the field of geology and mining in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, cooperation and technical assistance between the JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA and Geological Service of Argentina, signed in Moscow in December 2008. The two sides expressed readiness to develop cooperation in the following areas.
The Russian party has offered its assistance in locating mineral deposits of satellite reconnaissance. The Argentine party requests the assistance of the JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA, together with Moscow State University and other organizations in the exchange of technology in the field of geophysical magnetometric and gravimetric search to identify mineral deposits, including hydrocarbons.
In addition, the Argentine side proposed to organize in Moscow a meeting of Russian and Argentine companies of the mining sector to attract investments in Argentina. The meeting is scheduled before 1st of March, 2010.
Russian party will consider the proposal within the Council of Entrepreneurs “Russia-Argentina” to interested Russian companies.
The 70th anniversary of the Mongolian Geological Survey
14-16 October, 2009. In Ulaan Baator took place the celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of the Mongolian Geological Survey. In addition to the commemorative events associated with this date was held the international scientific conference under the slogan: "70 years of the Mongolian Geological Survey: Achievements and Prospects."
Proceedings of the conference were published in a special issue of the «Mongolian Geoscientist» journal.
The delegation from JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA on the initiative of Mongolian party paid a visit to the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism of Mongolia Mr. D. Idevhten. Were also held numerous meetings with our Mongolian colleagues now occupying high positions and retired. They have consistently expressed their heartfelt sentiments to Russia, with great pleasure remembering the years of joint work, appreciating the contribution of Soviet geologists in knowledge of the geological mysteries of Mongolia, noted the special role of VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA and staff in creating a modern mineral resource base of the country and in achieving a high degree of its geological knowledge.

In Santiago, Chile, took place the fourth meeting of the Chilean-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation, which was attended by General Director of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA - A.G. Alexeev.
During the meeting there were discussed issues about the conduction of works on forecasting, geological and economic evaluation of short-and long-term deposits of minerals, and work on the geochemical atlas of Chile in scale 1:250 000. Russian party has recommended the JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA to negotiate with CIMM (Centro de Investigacion Minera y Metalurgica) and SERNAGEOMIN (Servicio Nacional de Geologia y Mineria) on the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation and prepare a plan of joint research projects.
The parties agreed to establish a working group with representatives of JSC VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA, CIMM and SERNAGEOMIN for mineragenetic evaluation of the capacity of Chilean territory for strategic, critically short and highly liquid minerals, as well as the definition of the natural geological and ecological environment of Chile.
The parties also expressed interest in the exchange of geological and mapping information to identify promising areas to search for a wide range of ore minerals and the subsequent development of mining projects in Chile.

Representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in the meetings of the Intergovernmental Russian-Venezuelan high-level commission, held in St. Petersburg on 14-15 August 2009.
In the course of the workshops were discussed issues of cooperation in the financial sector, in industry and mining, economic cooperation, cooperation in energy, as well as prospects of cooperation in science and technology, environment, fisheries, tourism, culture.
JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIYA» expressed interest in the joint work in search, geological study and mining using advanced technology, and expressed willingness to provide advice and support companies interested in establishing and promoting business cooperation in the mining industry of Venezuela.
To consolidate the achievements of the negotiations of bilateral agreements the Protocol of Working Group proceedings on Cooperation in the field of industry and minerals was signed.
These negotiations will be the final stage in preparing the visit of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in Russia, which is scheduled for September 2009.

The conference was attended by representatives of «World Gold Council» UK, Barrick Gold Corporation (Canada), Unicore (Belgium), JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» (Russia), Mintek (South Africa), Anglogold Ashanti (South Africa ), Tanaka KKK (Japan), representatives of the world's leading universities and research centers. The conference discussed the status of exploration and production of gold. Barrick Gold Corporation (Canada) announced a tender to create a technology developing fine silver associated with gold in quartz veins.

Representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in a seminar on the dissemination of priority projects of the PAC of Brazil, held on July 20, 2009 in the Congress - centre of CCI Russian Federation. The event was held parallel to the "Commission Summit Brazil-Russia." The contents of the workshop was similar to the activities of the PAC held a presentation in the U.S. and Europe (a brief introduction to Brazil's macroeconomic fundamentals, summarized the report of the PAC-presentation, the presentation of sectors, including the project folder, the legal regulations (legal protection for investments). In addition to attracting direct investment to the country, the event helps to advance understanding of the Brazilian economy and the sector management tools.

June 18, 2009. In the Congress Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia was held Constituent meeting of the Coordinating Committee on economic cooperation with African countries.
The committee includes representatives of the MFA of Russia, Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the State Duma and Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation, organizations, companies and enterprises operating in the African market or interested in establishing business connections with African partners. JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» with great experience of cooperation with African countries and with an extensive database of geological information, popular among Russian and foreign companies, unanimously was included in the Coordinating Committee.
Challenges posed by a Steering Committee were made on 16 May, 2008, at a scientific-practical conference «Hydrocarbon and solid minerals in Africa: opportunities for the participation of Russian business in their development» in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia. The main aim is to consolidate the efforts of business circles of Russia for effectively promoting Russian economic interests on the African continent.

On June 16th, in the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation was held the first meeting of the Russian-Korean Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources. Russian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation - Donskoy S. E., and Korean delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Knowledge Economy on the policy in the sphere of energy and resources of the Republic of Korea - Kim Jeong Gwan. The meeting was held within the framework of the Agreement between the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russian and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Korea on cooperation in geology and mining from 29 September 2008.
During the meeting participants exchanged information on the development of public policies and legislation of both countries in the field of mineral resources. There were discussed questions on bilateral research projects on regional geology, including scientific and forecasting researches the country were discussed on the meeting.
The parties expressed interest in developing and strengthening cooperation in the field of geology and natural resources, emphasizing that this will facilitate the exchange of geological technologies and human resources between two countries.
The second meeting of the Russian-South Korean Committee will be held in 2010 in the Republic of Korea.
«Russian-Chilean trade and economic days»
June 15, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a «Day of Chilean-Russian trade and economic relations». On the program of events was a seminar «Chile: country-platform», a presentation of a business platform for the National Agricultural Society of Chile (SNA) and a number of sectoral meetings between representatives of the private industry of professional associations of both countries.
Chilean delegation was led by the Director of Multilateral Affairs Directorate of International Economic Relations, Rodrigo Contreras, Russian by the Director of the Americas Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Elena Danilova. Participation in the activities from the JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took the head of the department of international relations Alekseev S. N.
The purpose of such meetings is to deepen the knowledge of the parties on the trade policies of Chile and Russia to develop arrangements to increase mutual trade and investment.

March 24th, 2009. Hall of the Presidium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation the constituent meeting was held on the Russian-Chilean Business Council (RCBC). At the course of which it was decided to elect: r. Starovoitov A.V as a Chairman of Russian-Chilean Business Council., and as its deputy Mr. Alexeev A.G., General Director of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA», Export Director from «Russian coaches» - Mr. Zhbannikov A. S. and as a principal Expert of International Cooperation Department of CCI Russia -Kurochkina G.I., Mashkova T.N. was elected as an executive director of RCBC. Also on the agenda was approved a work plan for the year 2009.

Ethiopia
All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Geology of Foreign Countries in the delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, attended the XIII International Industry Fair, held from February 26th to March 4th in Addis Ababa under the slogan - «Corporate social responsibility for sustainable business». The main purpose is to provide its participants with opportunities to stimulate business and international exchange.
Exposition of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» presents the results of the organization to assess the mineral potential of territories of Ethiopia and other African countries. The poster presentation were represented by maps of mineral resources of Egypt, Angola, Chad, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Senegal, Uganda, Congo, Ghana and Tanzania, as well as maps of oil in Africa. Representatives of the Ethiopian side and exhibitors have expressed interest in the exposition of the Russian delegation.
Russia and Argentina have signed a memorandum of cooperation
December 10, 2008. Director General of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» Alekseev A. G. has signed a memorandum «Of understanding in cooperation and technical assistance to the Servicio Geologico Minero Argentino (SEGEMAR) of the Argentine Republic».
Tuapse
International academic and research conference «Geosystems: factor in the development, management, management techniques» took place on the 28th of September, 2008. Conference was organized by the University of Tuapse (branch of Russian State Hydrometeorological University) under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Science.
There were presented more than 50 reports on very broad themes - from changing of global climate to oil pollution in the Black Sea. The main part of the reports was devoted to management of natural and economic systems, including those in the coastal-marine zones. From the JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» the report was submitted by a research scientist Vostokov E.N. («Nodal structure as the major geo-ecological and economic-ecological system») which aroused great interest among the public and the press.
Krasnoyarsk
Representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in the International Conference-Exhibition «Aluminum of Siberia-2008», held on 10th -12th of September in Krasnoyarsk, in the exhibition and business center «Siberia», traditionally organized by «RUSAL» and Scientific-Technological Center «Light metals».
The conference-exhibition was attended by 166 Russian and foreign companies. Total number of participants is more than 400 people, including 90 foreign experts. These are representatives of the world's largest aluminum and resource companies.
The main objectives of the conference: «Getting aluminum», «Casting and secondary aluminum metallurgy», «Alumina Production», «Ecology, labor protection and waste management».
In the section of «Alumina Production» were discussed questions of bauxite mining, including the world's reserves and the mining operations.
Norway
August 6th to 14th 2008 in Oslo, the capital of Norway, was held the 33rd International Geological Congress. The main objective of the Congress was promotion of global development of fundamental and applied research in earth sciences, promotion of new developments, technological advances and improvements in geological sciences. As a part of the Congress an international exhibition GEOEXPO took place. There were participating representatives of all countries, arrived in Oslo.
The 33rd Congress was attended by over 6000 participants from all over the world, including representatives of the Russian geological industry JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» Alekseev S.N., Deputy Director General, and Fedorina P.S. Manager of International Relations Department.
Rome
June 9th to 12th, 2008. The representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in the annual 70th exhibition and conference EAGE (European Association of Engineering Geology and Geophysics). The exhibition was held in the Exhibition center Nuova Fiera di Roma Italy, Rome.
The Industry Subjects of the exhibition covered oil, gas and mining, geophysics, geology, technology exploration, oil and gas basins, and so on. The conference sessions were organized and carried out scientific and practical seminars, which allowed geologists and geophysicists from different countries to share their invaluable experiences and ideas, as well as to collaborate.
Cameroon
In the period from June 1st to 5th, representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» visited the Republic of Cameroon to conduct a series of meetings with government and business community. Cameroonian business community has shown interest in cooperation in the field of geology and cadastral services.
Dominican Republic
As part of the program of the development of business relations of the Russian business community and foreign partners, support and strengthen of the Russian Federation in the world economic system, in the period from May 24th till 1st of June, 2008, JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in the 1st International Congress «The development and intensification of bilateral relations: Russian Federation - Dominican Republic» held in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic).
The event was attended by: Center of Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the Russian Federation, representatives of the Dominican business community (at the level of the first leaders of the most advanced companies), representatives of Guzman Ariza - one of the leading law firms in the Dominican Republic, and others.
As part of the Congress were held in two working sessions. One of the meetings was held by the Ministry of Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic. Hold a meeting the Head of Strategic Projects of the Ministry, Mr. Franklin Lithgow. Mr. Lithgow had presented to delegates the basic performance of the Dominican economy, highlighted the main directions of development of the country's economy, the basic industry investments. The second session dealt with the legal aspects of business in the Dominican Republic.
In general, the event has provided full information on economy, key indicators of development and investment projects in the Dominican Republic.

Kaliningrad
March 26th – 30th, 2008. International Conference «The integrated management, indicators of development, spatial planning and monitoring of the coastal regions of south-eastern Baltic Sea» was held.
The conference was attended by specialists from Russia, Poland and Lithuania, as well as representatives of international organizations related to the study of coastal zones.
The main objectives of the conference were to bring together the Russian Federation, Poland and Lithuania in the study of the southern Baltic and to develop joint recommendations for monitoring the marine and coastal parts of the southern Baltic. A joint declaration was accepted on the principles of integrated coastal zone management and monitoring of development indicators of the southern Baltic.
The report by Vostokov E.N., the representative of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA», on geo-environmental study of the geodynamic structures has caused concern of the conference participants. Abstracts were published in different languages.
Shanghai
From 20th till 22nd of November 2007, a Second International Exhibition and Forum on Geological Technologies, Equipment and Tools was held in Shanghai (PRC).
There were presented the leading producers of geological and drilling equipment from the United States, Canada and China. The main purpose of the presentation was to introduce new technologies and developments in the field of chemical and geophysical exploration.
As an observer the exhibition was attended by representative of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA», in addition to Moscow Government delegations.
Brazil
From September 29th till October 5th 2007, representatives of MNR of Russia and JSC «VZG» took part in the exhibition-presentation in order to present Russian organizations in the field of geology.
Senegal
July 29th to August 4th 2007. The delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia visited the Republic of Senegal with a view to establish working relationships with ministries and agencies to further advance of Russian mining companies on the African mineral market. Russian delegation visited open-cut mining of limestone and gas field, located on the outskirts of Dakar. The delegation was acquainted with the current mining legislation, licensing and environmental management for foreign investors, as well as the law governing foreign investment, discussed the possibility of participation of Russian large and medium businesses in developing Mineral resources of African countries. The «first-hand» information received from Russian subsoil users opens up opportunities and prospects for expanding the sphere of influence of Russia on the African continent.
Kabul
From 10th till 16th June 2007, representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in the preliminary stage of preparation of the tender on the theme: «The development of geological services of Afghanistan».
November 14, 2005. Representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» took part in an international conference and exhibition for the reconstruction of Afghanistan «Rebuild Afghanistan».
Zambia
May 22nd and 24th, 2007. Presentation of Russian enterprises was held in Lusaka and in the main industrial center - Kitwa.
A presentation was attended by more than 100 representatives of ministries, public and private enterprises, including enterprises from neighboring countries, particularly from South Africa. In the capital the meeting was opened by the personal representative of the President, in Kitwa - Head Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Also meeting was attended by Russian Ambassador to Zambia. At the end each of the Russian organizations has continued to work in the round table. JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» had attracted significant interest by the local representatives. The interest was reflected in the TV programs on the presence of the Russian delegation, and in publications, local newspapers «Zambia Daily Mail» and «Times of Zambia». It was shown the interest in cooperation with JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA».
Africa
From May 20th till June 1st 2007, representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA» in the delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russian Federation visited Africa. The main purpose of the visit was to create an information base for organization plans of the Russian subsoil users to participate in the development of mineral resources of Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Zimbabwe. Visit of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia delegation was very useful and informative and gives an idea of the immense potential of SME of African countries.
St. Petersburg
January 31, 2007. In St. Petersburg Russian Geology has celebrated 125th anniversary of the Geological Committee. Among those invited to the commemorative meeting of the academic council were representatives of the Russian scientific elite, mining and oil companies. The anniversary meeting of the academic council was attended by 350 people, including: representative of VSEGEI; leaders and representatives of 99 Russian organizations and enterprises inclusive of representatives of JSC «VNIIZARUBEZHGEOLOGIA»; 19 leaders and representatives of geological services, and organizations of 10 foreign countries.
A commemorative meeting was attended by Chairman of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, the members of the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences, vice-governor of St. Petersburg, chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment of the Federation Council.
Mongolia
From 10th till 18th November 2006, representatives of the Institute took part in a geological conference «Mineral resources of Mongolia in the 21st Century», dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the scientific and technical cooperation of Mongolia and Russia in the field of geology. The conference was organized by the Mongolian Geological Association, Russian Geological Society (RosGeo) and the Administration of Minerals and Petroleum of Mongolia with the Mongolian State University of Science and Technology.
The conference was attended by over 150 participants, including representatives of the Institute.
The series of reports represent the results of cooperation, the problems facing the geological sector, ways to overcome them, the recommendations and wishes to intensify cooperation.
